Welcome to netsperience 2.x

This is the personal web site of Randall Goya aka decibel.places dba netsperience

I develop community, social publishing, semantic publishing, ecommerce and rich media Web 2.x web sites (beyond "Web 2.0"). I also optimize web sites for SEO and SMO. I build most of my projects with Drupal, PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS & jQuery.

Here you can view my professional portfolio, read my blog, listen to some tunes by me, or on the Jango Juke BoxI'm also on Facebook & twitter & LinkedIn - View the netsperience company profile on LinkedIn.

You're probably wondering, "If this is netsperience 2.x, what happened to netsperience 1.0?" It was at GeoCities Free Hosting for over ten years, but now it's gone along with the rest of GeoCities - you can still view much of the old GeoCities site at ReoCities

Errors and Inconsistencies on LinkedIn

I have great respect for the pool of experts and talent who are members of LinkedIn.

However, I find the LinkedIn interface clumsy, cumbersome, and often, wrong.

Here is a collection of errors and inconsistencies collected from LinkedIn.

Cannot reply to message

Got a message on Yahoo Mail, but it didn't load

So I tried to reply on LinkedIn

but I was prompted to log in

(although I was already loggged in, AND the login screen kept appearing... a sub-bug?)

and when I viewed my sent messages, the reply was not there

Twitter API Changes Again, Patch for Drupal 6.x Twitter Module

When I was unable to post to Twitter from my blog tonight, I found a very new thread on drupal.org discussing the issue: the Twitter API changed again!

I am only using the Twitter module on Drupal 6 sites right now, I took two of the fixes and combined them in a patch for the 6.x-3.0-beta9 version. Then MinhH submitted new code that only requires a change in one place.

here's my latest patch for the 6.x-3.0-beta9 version

since the Twitter API is constantly changing, and the module is not very stable, always read the thread carefully to make sure you are applying the latest patch! Others have cleaned up the code I added from MinhH, and created a patch for the 6.x-3.x-dev branch which makes sense (however I suspect that 6.x-3.0-beta9 may be ahead of the -dev branch, and it's not a branch provided in the project's Github). Anyway, Open Source rocks, Murray!

and because my Twitter RSS feed URL was also broken, I found this post

https://dev.twitter.com/discussions/844

which provides an update to the URL format:

Thou Shalt Not Direct Message Bot On Twitter

DM from NYCLUI hadn't thought much about this - but when I followed the New York Civil Liberties Union after reading about their "Stop & Frisk" mobile app, there was the DM, with a link to their Facebook page.

Google Gets Off Prematurely On My Flying F*ck Tweet

Earlier today I tweeted about the Flying F*ck you can buy on Amazon:

Flying F*ck in my Twitter Feed

I also posted it to my status on Empire Avenue; curious if that site is indexed, I searched for it and found this result on my web site purportedly from 3 days ago:

Flying F*ck on my web site 3 days ago

Buy it here:

Empire Avenue: a social game, a community and ?

I joined Empire Avenue yesterday because Chris Pirillo (e)Pirillo recommended it on Google+ for people who already use social networks to promote themselves and their businesses.

It's kind of fun, investing virtual scrip (eaves) in other people and getting invested in and meeting new people. It could easily become an obsession, there the obsessed are stars, not trolls.

It connects with your activity and network on Twitter, Facebook, foursquare, LinkedIn, Instagram, Flickr, G+ etc.

I also added this blog there, so here's the code to promote my RSS feed to an offical Blog on Empire Avenue: {EAV:7b7cbef88863e3fa}

Panic on Twitter: 0 followers, 0 following

Twitter addicts freaked out today when they discovered they had 0 followers.

This is because of a "rollback" after a bug was discovered by Twitter that permitted a user to “force” other users to follow them.

The status quo ante should be restored soon. Listed contacts remain intact, since they were listed by the account owner.

New Drupal Content Type "payme" Named via Twitter

OP: Trying to name a #drupal content type that encompasses outgoing quotes, invoices and receipts. So far I've got accounts_document. Any ideas?

decibelplaces suggests name "payme" for nicksanta new Drupal content type on Twitter

My clincher: @nicksanta I'm serious - "document" seems redundant, how happy it would be to click on Create content > payme !

How cool is Gist? Like TweetDeck, but different...

Know More About Who You Know ™

I'm not a "joiner" - I was dragged into Facebook (ho-hum) and Twitter (wowza!) because I needed accounts for API testing...

So I joined Gist on a whim, and right away (a while back) a post aggregated on my Gist dashboard told me that that TweetDeck had a new release with LinkedIn integration.  - w00t!

Gist sends a discreet email every few days,  and when I log in I always see something interesting. It is a contact aggregator, sort of like TweetDeck but different. If you're like me and have some issues updating Adobe AIR apps like TweetDeck, Gist is a web based app. I do not think I have explored all its possibilities of sorting updates by tags, relevance etc. But I think Gist is cool.
