Empire Avenue: a social game, a community and ?

I joined Empire Avenue yesterday because Chris Pirillo (e)Pirillo recommended it on Google+ for people who already use social networks to promote themselves and their businesses.

It's kind of fun, investing virtual scrip (eaves) in other people and getting invested in and meeting new people. It could easily become an obsession, there the obsessed are stars, not trolls.

It connects with your activity and network on Twitter, Facebook, foursquare, LinkedIn, Instagram, Flickr, G+ etc.

I also added this blog there, so here's the code to promote my RSS feed to an offical Blog on Empire Avenue: {EAV:7b7cbef88863e3fa}

Coney Island Mermaid Parade ushered in Summer

King Neptune - Adam Richman from the Travel Channel's Man V. Food

Queen Mermaid - Cat Greenleaf from Talk Stoop

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz declared it the "world's most underdressed parade" and before it started he advised those who were "squeamish about the sight of skin"

to "leave now."

This year I "only" took about 200 photos, I also shot several short videos which I strung together and posted on YouTube:

The Damned: Punk Rock Godfathers Make My Week

Before the Sex Pistols there were The Damned - critics accused them of speeding up their tapes because nobody human could play that fast.

I downloaded about 450 songs by The Damned and I have to say they have made my week. They remind me why I had a punk band in the 70s, The National Guard, with Billy Schreier (who went on to the Way Outs in Buffalo NY) and David Corn (now a journalist).

Best Résumé On Berman Larson Kane Webinar

On March 4, 2009 my résumé was featured on a Berman Larson Kane webinar, chosen as "best" out of 700 that were submitted.

I finally got around to editing the raw movie and uploading it to my YouTube account.

Someone forwarded some photos of Faith the Dog to me, and I made a video slideshow set to Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog" and I sent a link to Faith's family and they loved it.

Then Faith's human companion, Jude Stringfellow, sent me the hospital and USO photos, and suggested the Youngbloods song "Let's Get Together" from Forrest Gump, which resulted in the "Faith and Hope" slideshow. YouTube subsequently muted the soundtrack because it is copyrighted - so we have replaced it with music chosen from YouTube's library.

Faith the Dog has a brand new Official Web Site developed with Acquia Drupal and featuring state-of-the-art social publishing and community features. Faith also has a group on LinkedIn!

I saw Faith the Dog on Oprah, she is very cute and inspirational... she made an impression on me.
