I Survived a Chassidic Wedding Mosh Pit

On 24th of Sivan, 5769
(June 16, 2009) I celebrated the simcha of Simcha and Yehudis Cohen

מזל טוב  ולחיים

Simcha is my religious instructor, we have a small class every Tuesday at Shaare Zedek in West New York, to study the weekly parsha and Tanya.

After a lovely chupa at

770 Eastern Parkway

there was a lavish reception and dinner at the

Razag Ballroom

A terrific Jewish rock band took the stage and the men danced in a frenzy. As the night went on, the groom was elevated in a chair and on a table top.

Old men with long white beards and long black coats slam danced along with the younger men in a Chassidic mosh pit. I also danced, some, including with the joyous groom.

Now I know why the men all wear hats: to keep the yarmulkes on when dancing!
